More Information

The AVI50415 Diploma course is approximately 12 weeks in duration and provides the qualifications needed to operate a multi engine aeroplane under the Instrument Flight Rules in most weather conditions. We teach you how to take on the challenging role of flying the aircraft during all phases of flight solely with reference to the flight instruments.

The course starts with intensive classroom theory in preparation for the Instrument Rating Theory Exam (IREX). It continues with simulated IFR flight exercises in the AL200 synthetic trainer followed by initial Multi Engine Aeroplane training in the Diamond DA42 NG. The DA42 NG this is a modern twin engine training aircraft with an advanced G1000 glass cockpit.Once the twin engine handling skills have been attained, the course continues with IFR sequences in both the DA42 NG and the Redbird FMX1000 synthetic trainer where the skills of managing cross country navigation exercises and instrument approach procedures including VOR, GPS and ILS are further developed.

The successful completion of this course results in the attainment of a Multi Engine Aeroplane Class Rating and Multi Engine Instrument Rating with 2D and 3D Instrument Approach Procedure endorsements.
